Jidori

I don’t often go to East London now.  After a youth spent hanging out in its cool bars and roof top terraces, I feel I’m a bit old for that scene now. Work does take me over there sometimes and I was delighted to find this lunch spot on my last visit.

More Info

Jidori is a lovely little spot on Kingsland High Street. This yakitori restaurant is light and bright with a pastel themed interior. Simple and clean like it’s food.

The chicken is especially sourced in Leicestershire and incredibly flavourful. The open kitchen means you can smell it as soon as you arrive.

I ordered the midori don bowl and Frances ordered the salmon sashimi don bowl, then we had a few sides. I actually had the beginnings of flu the day we went and this food literally made my day. It was so wholesome, fresh and soothing. I instantly felt better. We enjoyed their delicious drinks menu too, which included yuzu ginger beer and iced green tea.

If you’re over this side of town (or even if you’re not), this little discreet location is well worth the effort of seeking it out.
