Fig and Violet Tart

BakingSweet
This is the recipe I referenced in my Apple, Onion and Goats Cheese Tart recipe.  It's great for tea or as a light pudding with ice cream.  Why not try it this weekend.
  1. Preheat the oven to 190ºC.
  2. Roll out the puff pastry to a 1/2 cm thickness, place on a non stick baking tray.
  3. Spread the jam evenly across the pastry leaving a centimetre boarder around the edge.
  4. Layer the sliced figs across the jam in a pretty pattern then sprinkle with ground almonds.
  5. Cube the butter and sprinkle over the top.
  6. Bake for 20-25mins until the pastry is puffed and golden and the figs look like they are beginning to caramelise.
  7. Remove from the baking tray and sprinkle with crystallised violets.

Day 5 PFW AW2013

Fashion WeekPFW
Chanel day is always the highlight of my Paris Fashion Week.  The show is staged on such a huge scale, every year we play the 'guess the theme' game as soon as the invite arrives.  I always like to wear something a bit smarter on Chanel day, its an event that allows for a more formal feel.  This season I saved this amazing Patricia Chang coat.  It just spoke to me.

Day 4 PFW AW2013

Fashion WeekPFW

I think its really important to buy pieces like this that will work as time goes on in new outfits.  They have to be versatile and classic for you to get your moneys worth.  When I say classic I don’t necessarily mean Audrey Hepburn classic, amazing statement pieces can be classics if the workmanship or style is interesting. My mother always says to me when we shop together… “What will you wear with it?”. i.e. what do you already own that you can wear it with now, you shouldn’t have to buy a whole new outfit for it to go with.  She taught me it was important to work with your closet.  As a teenager I dismissed this, but now I see its what creates a truly lasting closet.

Navy and Burgandy.  Win win.

If your an avid reader of this site you will recognise nearly every piece of this outfit from a previous post.
