Hanging out at Bibendum

LondonOutfits

The Bibendum Building is a London landmark. I don’t know that many people who have ever been inside (other than to eat at the restaurant) but the look of this Art Deco great is so familiar to everyone in London.  The pale pastel colours and rolling sides are the perfect London backdrop.  Kit and I stopped in for a little lunch and a chat over her new book! I’m so excited and proud of her. She’s a full blown published author! The stuff of dreams.

A quick note on the outfit… I haven’t been able to wear much in the way of sportluxe. I don’t really suit it and I’m not a big trend supporter anyway. Although I have found wearing a sports bra (there is one for every colour and figure now, American Apparel have a great selection) under sheer clothes is a great way to get a bit more coverage and maintain the sheer effect.

Shoes Manolo Blahnik, Jeans J Brand, Sports Bralet American Apparel, Knit Zara, Jacket Maison Martin Margiela for H&M, Bag Fendi (from theoutnet) and Cuff Hermes.

Dreaming of Italy Part 2.

InspirationStay

Recently I’ve been thinking about my summer plans.  Where should I go, what I should do? Tanning and eating tend to be top of my list.

Which reminded of the great trip to Italy I had a few years ago. We drove from London across Europe (stopping in Venice and Florence)  ending up a few hours outside Rome in the beautiful secluded Palazzo Parisi.

Somehow I only just remembered I had these photographs. I did Part 1 forever ago.  The villa was so inspiring. Every room had something to admire and desire.

Now I’m working on my house, I’m obsessed with looking at interiors; in magazines, museums, Pinterest and on my travels.

The perfect summer villa rental.

Twin Chocolate Squares

BakingSweet
These cakes are know as the smile makers. I gave some to my best friend when I was testing them and I have never seen him so happy over food (and he loves food!). Now everything is compared to the chocolate cake smile! I hope they bring a smile to your face too.
1

Make the Cakes

  1. Preheat the oven to 180ºC.
  2. Warm your mixing bowl before you start.
  3. Cream the Butter and Sugar, then stir in the Eggs, Milk and Treacle.
  4. Sift the Flour and Cocoa powder and fold it in.
  5. Pour into your greased cake tin (I just light brush mine with sunflower oil or melted butter).
  6. Bake for 25-30mins until risen but moist still.
  7. Cool on a rack.

Frost

  1. Meanwhile melt your White Chocolate in a bowl.  I use the microwave to do this, I have a rule that never lets me down.  Only microwave at 30 sec intervals, always open the microwave and stir even if nothing looks like it is happening, I promise you won’t burn it with this method, you shouldn’t need more that four 30second blasts.
  2. Take each cake and dip it into the melted chocolate allowing to cool on the rack again afterwards.
When you have dipped all the cakes, take your popping candy and sprinkle over the top, then use the remaining white chocolate to drizzle over the top, this both holds the popping candy on and adds a pretty effect.
