I’m so addicted to this first app, I find it almost impossible not to use it before posting an image. Once you’ve seen the improvement it can have on iPhone shot image, you’ll feel lazy not using it every time.
I use the custom levels on this app to change exposure, brightness, saturation, everything really to get the image to look exactly how I want it to.
They do have preset filters and frames which can me fun although I don’t ever end up using them.
I also use this app to get rid of graininess from images shot in low light and smooth skin (I use the reduce noise option for this).
I’ve found this the best all-rounder straight-up photo editor.
The next apps are really more specific, for when you want to create a certain look to an image.
When I first joined instagram I used to find it so hard to make things fit into the square shape, I always wanted a landscape. I then learnt a way to make this happen.
I use this app to add a boarder to images so that a portrait or landscape image can fit into the square by filling the gap with a white (or any colour you like) boarder. I also use this app to over lay text onto images. There are also loads more features on this app, including editing, frames, filters and effects so it’s a great all rounder if you aren’t looking to import the same picture into three apps before your done.
I found the next app through a similar piece that Chriselle Lim wrote (no relation btw, nor sadly is Phillip). This app is great for making images of landscapes and views the right colours. I find sometimes when its super bright out my iPhone dulls the colours in an attempt to cope with the exposure, this app corrects that with loads of options. Of all the apps I recommend here this is the only one that has a fee, so maybe try the others first and see if you need it before you commit.
Mirrorgram is great for making mirrored images. Some of the other apps above also do this, but this one has lots more cute choices.
This app makes little videos from slideshows of your images. It’s really fun for recapping trips and experiences.
The last two apps are for making photo collages, I use these in my #ootd posts and to build little fun recaps.
PhotoCollage and Pic Jointer.
PhotoCollage only creates square images (perfect for Instagram but quite limited for anything else), it has loads of frames and you can go boarderless which other apps don’t allow.
Pic Jointer allows different sizes as well as frames, although it isn’t as flexible. It is great if you want to make a landscape image.
