Masking

Skincare

Nothing says relax like a face mask. This is my guide to the best in each category. Perfect for some self care at-home.

Sheet Masks

Sheet masks are the easiest and most universal. They work with pretty much all skin types and they are easy to use and enjoy. I often take them when I travel and use them on airplanes too.

They are great for…

Caring for your skin post surgery or procedure. I often use these after a peel or micro-needling. They are soothing and hydrating.
111SKIN – Rose Gold Brightening Facial Treatment Mask
111SKIN – Celestial Black Diamond Lifting and Firming Mask

Prepping for makeup. Apply one while you dry your hair before a big event to make sure your skin is hydrated and pump, perfect for smooth flawless makeup application.
La Mer – Treatment Hydration Lotion Mask

Use during pregnancy to help your skin stretch. These masks come with so much extra product within the packet that they can be re-used. So I use it once on my face and then empty the remaining product onto the mask and apply it to my stomach or chest.
SK-II – Facial Treatment Mask

Girls night in and some key skincare ingredients. They have a really amazing amount of this award winning product, so you can chat away for hours and they mask wont dry out.
Estee Lauder – ANR Concentrate Mask

A quick option. Using the under eye patches allows you to use another mask alongside a sheet mask. They are also great for travel.
Elemis – Pro-Collagen Hydra-Gel Eye Mask
Rodial – Dragon’s Blood Eye Mask

Mud Masks

Mud masks are particularly good for those with breakout prone oily skin. Although I don’t have that skin type and still like to include one in my routine for tightening and deep cleansing.

Mud masks are great for…

Cleansing and Purifying your skin. They will also reduce puffiness and inflammation. I like to read a magazine or blog while I the mask dries on my skin and then I use a muslin flannel to remove it.
Eve Lom – Rescue Mask
Omorovicza – Deep Cleansing Mask

For those looking for a no mess option. Mud Sheet masks are now a thing too.
Patchology – Detox No Mess Mud Sheet Mask

Treatment Mask

Treatment masks are a tricky category. So many of them are either ineffective or way way too harsh for my skin. I have only found one which I think it really fantastic. I used it in the run up to my wedding day and it really does create the most perfectly smooth skin. Don’t use it on the day of your wedding, instead use it about 5 days before (as lovely fine scrub is best on the day – I like the Fresh sugar polish).

Treatment masks are great for…

Resurfacing your skin.
Prepping for makeup application, the skin with be smoother with less residue dry skin after regular use of a treatment mask.
GlamGlow – SuperMud

These masks are incredibly refreshing and uplifting. They smell incredible and add a huge amount of hydration to the skin. I love to apply them before I have a bath and then let the steam and mask work their magic together.
