I just finished reading Ava Gardner's Book, in it her voice is so colloquial and of her time in Hollywood. She has so many phrases I've never even heard before. My favourite of which was, "going to the feathers" - meaning going to bed with someone. It makes it sound so wonderful, in a gangsta old world way. Somehow there's nothing sordid about saying the feathers, whereas other more modern reference to the same thing can be so crude.
I found this feather jacket on Ebay. I love finding amazing vintage online. It feel like a treasure hunt.
