Selfridges & Cartier Amulette

I’m a big believer in luck. Both kinds. The kind the universe dispenses and the kind that hard work and effort creates. When I was younger I always wore lucky bracelets and necklaces ( and socks!) to travel and for exams, but I guess with age you grow out of a lot of these trinkets. So when Cartier told me that this Amulette in Malachite represents luck, naturally I went straight for it. The child in me loving the idea, and the adult loving the aesthetic.

The rich green reminded me of the coast in cornwall, where the lush cliffs fall into the emerald and aqua sea during the summer light. Cornwall (the furthest south western tip of England) is my favourite holiday destination. Cornwall is filled with beautiful coves, sweeping valleys and expansive beaches. Selfridges asked me tell them my favourite summer holiday location and I always think cornwall in good weather is more beautiful than anywhere else.

The colours of the Cartier necklace, my dress and the sea just all came together in perfect harmony. All so natural and light. Like the sea air.

Hayle Beach

The perfect location for our shoot. Kit and I travelled down, slightly worried by the weather but as we starting shooting the cloud broke apart and the sun streamed so bright across the beach I could hardly see.  The light in St Ives and the bay surrounding it has been famous for generations. Artists have always flocked to paint the amazing conditions. I hope you can see the amazing luminosity it all these photos.

In this shoot I’m wearing the Cartier Malachite Amulette in the longer length. It is available from Selfridges Wonder Room.

Across the street from each other, face a little cafe and shop, of the same name.

Last time I was in Paris, Carin suggested some places for me to eat. This little breakfast spot was top of my list. It’s just so picturesque. Everything is delicious, you can buy the most wonderful presents for people. I got a jar of aloe vera tea jam for a loved-one which they adored. It’s pretty colour scheme of black, white and green is clean and everything you would want from a modern Parisian cafe. Muffins, tarts, cakes, great coffee and tea. Really everything you could want.

Do call and make a booking for breakfast as it does get busy and most often you cant eat there without one. The breakfast selection is particularly notable. Although I would go whenever they could fit me in. You can also always pop in for a takeaway sandwich, coffee and juice.

On Time

I feel lost without a watch.

Running on time is never more important than on the day of a friends wedding. Almost all of my summer holidays are taken up with wedding, I suspect this is the case between the ages of 28 and 40. For most of us, summer holidays become synonymous with english summer weddings. In the city or in the country, covered in flowers and always running a touch late, just to be in good taste. One the loveliest summer weddings I have been to was in a garden in the city centre. It felt so magical and like we were all discovering this well kept urban secret. Often we will wear summer dresses to the service and then change for the reception. Most often into black tie. Strangely a lot of my black tie is actually made up of all white dresses, so I have had to find ways to work around this. I find the wide black pant the perfect wedding to dance floor companion. Pared back and with some simple but well thought out accessories. A watch being the centre piece. I love these CLUSE watches, which are so clean looking. They don’t distract from the outfit but add an essential detail. Particularly in London a watch is the perfect understated accessory.
