DIY Gucci Inspired Feather Jeans

ArticlesDIYFashion Tutorials

I found this old Gucci ad on Pinterest and it made me think how much I missed Tom Ford there, so in an attempt to bring him back, I though I would create a little DIY project in honour of these jeans.  Although there are quote a few steps to this tutorial it really is easy and can be done with no sewing skills at all.  I hope you will give it a go.  The point of the velcro is to allow you to still wash the jeans, by being able to remove the feathers. However if this doesn’t seem that important to you skip steps 8-11 and just attach the feathers directly onto the jeans.

  1. Cut your velcro into for strips. You now need to attach it to the jeans, you could hand stitch this or use a machine, if sewing isn’t your  thing not to worry take your bondaweb strips and iron them onto the velcro (using a low heat) and then pin and iron then on to the jeans.
  2. Now you want to trim the feathers with ribbon, take the ribbon and face both sides of the top of the feathers with it.  Again you could hand stitch this top and bottom of the ribbon or do the same with a sewing machine but if you want the stitch free version use fabric glue between the ribbon layers and use paper clips to hold it in place while it dries.
  3. If sewing, now stitch the other side of the velcro to the ribbon on the feathers. If not, use the glue (or I bought adhesive velcro) to attach the other side. Always put the velcro onto its twin on the jeans then pin the feather over this so make sure the angles and spaces is right before you permately attach them, and your done.

Jewelled Couscous

SavourySidesStartersVegetarian

This dish is fabulous all year round. I love it in the summer with a salad and ribs or lamb.  In the winter its wonderful with a tagine or stew, or even as an alternative side to a roast.

Or even have it alone for a wholesome lunch.

1

Steam the Couscous

  1. Slowly soften the Onion and Garlic in a pan with a little olive oil over the lowest hear with the lid on.
  2. Place your dry Couscous in a roasting tin and pour over the oil, with you hands rub the oil all over the Couscous to make sure it is evenly coated.
  3. Pour over the stock and cover with tin foil tightly to simulate a lid.
  4. Place in the oven and bake at 150ºC for 15-20 mins.
  5. Remove from the oven and open the foil, fluffy up the Couscous with a fork and then fork through the butter cubes.

I recently got obsessed with black jeans all over again.  As you know I love jeans. Jeans and shirts are pretty much my staple, but I had never really been into distressed black jeans, I think because I never went out and found the right pair.  I love these Mango ones. I did a little very fool proof customisation by cutting the slit at the ankle. I literally just cut a few inches up along the seam and I have loved wearing them this winter.

I was thinking about how much I love casual clothes the other day and it dawned on me that I don’t really post that much everyday stuff.  Drop me a comment below if you would like to see more casual looks (like this one) as well as the normal more dressy ones. If you follow me on Instagram you will have more of an idea of what that would be.
