Winter Evenings

For New Year’s Eve evening wear seems to be mandatory, if only to add a sense of occasion to the proceedings. Having said that, one doesn’t want to feel uncomfortable and over dressed. I think the perfect solution to this is a floor length skirt and a top, rather than a dress. I love Cashmere and Silk combined for a winter evening look. It’s so luxurious and adds an effortless atmosphere.

The shell collection in the cupboard above is my Mother’s. It has been collected over more than three decades. Every time we visit a beach we find something to add to it by beach combing. The jars of sand are from special memorable locations and other larger pieces were antiques bought over many years. The collection is a passion of mine. I love to go and look at it and enjoy not only the beauty of nature but the memories that go along with each shell. Some of the most amazing things were found at the Áman resort in the Philippines – Amanpulo.  The beach is stunning and I experienced the best snorkelling of my life there.

Collections are a great way to collect memories and create a really personal home. Dried flowers, antique china, your children’s artwork, bird’s nests and other treasures make for wonderful interest points in a room.  The key is to make a it a statement, don’t have one or two, have at least twenty! On english beaches I look for fossils, beautiful sea glass and special pebbles. Drift wood can also be a great addition to an outdoor shower, bathroom or your garden.

White Winter

EditorialsOn LocationOutfits

This year I really wanted to create Christmas themed editorial. I love winter shoots and I haven’t had the chance to do one till now.

May Your Days be Merry and Bright

With Love this Christmas

Peony x

I started to think about possible concepts for the Christmas editorial and I settled on Snow White in the Enchanted Woods, pulling out the Christmas colours of White, Red and Green as the focus. On the day of the shoot it was freezing, the light was constantly changing and rain was threatening. Somehow we got there though. I hope the result is suitably festive!

This beautiful Arevalo King dress and cape were hand made to fit me by the amazing Zoe (the woman behind the brand). When Zoe first reached out with her collection I was blown away with the sophisticated aesthetic of this young designer.  I get approached by a lot of new designers who want to get their message out. Mostly their work just doesn’t fit my really specific aesthete, so when I find a designer who I think does I feel a huge amount of affection for them and I really want to help if I can. Zoe’s collection really deserves our attention.  Each piece is so well thought out and unlike a lot of designers she has come up with solution dresses for different body-types. Each one showcases and disguises the body in a different way, through skilful tailoring not just drapery.

This year I am spending Christmas in the Maldives, so rather than snow I’m surrounded with sea and sand. Do pop over to Instagram to follow me on my travels. It’s really beautiful here.

The Christmas party season is well and truly upon us, so outfits to the ready! I love this Razan Alazzouni look for a winter get together. With a little jacket on, it can look quite causal and then you can reveal your sparkle later. Razan Alazzouni is a new brand from Saudi Arabia, their aesthetic is refined, sophisticated and feminine. Obviously I’m in love.
