Digging for Treasure in Newbury

DoShop
So I have been doing a lot of secret work lately.  I have been traveling all over, working on some new and exciting things for peonylim.blogspot.  I hope you will start to see some changes soon that you will enjoy exploring. Fingers crossed anyway! The first step has been to get a new do on the bloggette... as you see today! Hope you like it. Let me know what you think.
In the meantime, my travels have taken me to a couple of antique fairs, here are some photos from the Newbury one.  If you are in London have a good time treasure hunting at Portobello, Camden or Brick Lane market this weekend!

Something a little Tarty

SavourySavoury BakesVegetarian
This is a beautiful Onion Tart that my godfather made for me from my Mothers recipe!
  1. Combine the Flour, Lard, Marg, Salt and Water in a Food Processor to the make the pastry (pulse only till incorporated no more).
  2. Preheat the oven to 180°C.
  3. Rest the pastry for 30mins in the fridge, then blind bake for 15mins.
  4. Remove the baking beans and glaze the pastry case with egg and return to the oven for a further 5 mins.
  5. Meanwhile prepare the filling. Slowing sweat the Onions in the Butter with a lid on for 15mins or more until golden and very soft.
  6. Mix together the Sour Cream, Milk, Egg and seasoning.
  7. Add the Garlic, Chopped Sage and Onions to the mix and pour into the pastry case.
  8. Bake for 40mins.
