Petworth Antiques

After a day pottering around the many antique shops in Petworth, I wanted to share my favourite spots.
Shop Augustus Brandt, Pound Street, Petworth, United Kingdom

This shop is so fabulous it has its own piece. You can find it here. Needless to say the whole shop is a wonderland. Even if you’re not in the market for anything, pop in just to enjoy the beautiful shop.

The lovely blue shopfront draws you in and the eclectic mix of styles means this shop has something for everyone.

Very luxurious. This shop was the most traditional. A beautiful showroom filled with really fine pieces that any home would be lucky to have.

Petworth Antiques Market

This little market holds a collection of antiques sellers, all under the same roof. It’s perfect for unusual little finds. I took away the lovely chest of drawers in the centre of the image for my guest bedroom. I also found some lovely little pictures (all very reasonably priced) and ceramics. Unlike the other larger shops, they don’t arrange shipping, so be aware that you need to fit anything you buy in your car or suitcase!

The Hungry Guest Bakery

After all that hard bargaining and shopping bag luging you will need a sit down, and this is the perfect spot. I had the most delicious custard tart!

The Hungry Guest Food Shop

This award winning shop, combines a mix of their own bakery, butchery and deli food. It really is lovely.

Walk Away

LondonOutfits
I love jeans and wearing casual clothes, but sometimes wearing a dress and feeling like a woman is unbeatable (as DVF knows). I love this look as a compromise between the two. The cashmere layers are causal and comfortable but the vintage dress is timeless and grown up. I find over the knee boots are the perfect winter weather warmer for the legs with dresses, so I have these Stuart Weitzman ones in three colours (wish I had more because I'm so greedy!).

Apricot Cheesecake

BakingCold PuddingSweet

This Cheesecake is surprisingly fresh and tart. The apricots are a lovely balance to the creaminess of the cheesecake layer. You can of course use a normal crust but I like the fragrance of the Amaretti.

1

Crust and Cream

  1. Blitz Amaretti and Butter to a wet sand texture, Pour into a cling filmed cake tin and press down with the back of a spoon. Refrigerate.
  2. Whisk together the Cream Cheese and Vanilla until smooth and whipped.
  3. Soak the Gelatine leaves in cold water for 4 mins
  4. Heat the Apricot Juice and Water to a simmer in a pan.
  5. Add Gelatine leaves (squeezed out) to hot juice to dissolve and add to cream cheese mix.
  6. Pour on crust.  Refrigerate for at least 2hrs.
  7. Take the fresh Apricots and cut them in half. Using a small knife cut the thinest slices you can manage.  Roll the first small slice into a circle and then layer the other pieces evenly around the circle on the work top until you have built up a rose. Set aside for decoration later.
2

Jelly and Roses

  1.  In pan bring to boil the Apricot Juice.
  2.  Remove from the heat and sieve the liquid.
  3. Soak the Gelatin leaves for 4 mins in cold water.
  4. Squeeze them out and then add them to the Juice.
  5. Allow the juice to cool to room temperature before pouring it over the cheesecake. (If it is too hot it will cause the Cream Cheese layer to separate into the Jelly.) Pour the Jelly mix onto the Cheesecake very slowly down the edge of the cake tin.
  6. Now take your apricot roses and place them across the top.
  7. Cover with cling film and refrigerate for a further 4 hours.
